Your $1.25 tip can kick-start “Selene’s Hollywood Confidential”, an online Soap!
Since I’ve been on Facebook & Twitter, both groups of Friends near and far have offered to buy me a drink if I ever found myself in their part of the world. I appreciate friendly gestures; however, geography and the physics of time make it impossible to accept everyone’s kind invitations. Instead of treating me to a cocktail, how’s about you tip me $1.25 to help make “Selene’s Hollywood Confidential” a reality!
Frustrated with Hollywood’s notorious glass ceiling, I am not waiting for The Man to knock on my door. I seek your support to raise funds to produce my own three-part online Soap Opera, “Selene’s Hollywood Confidential”, starring my favorite showbiz misfits Jackie Beat, Mario Diaz, Nadya Ginsburg, yours truly, plus celebrity guests.
I am passionately committed to the art of entertainment, but it is tougher than it looks! Showbiz ain’t all glamour, one-minute I’m grocery shopping at the 99¢ Store, the next, strutting down the red carpet. Showbiz is a constant state of limbo that’s enough to drive anyone crazy. After a decade plus of showbiz experience and priceless press clippings, I still can’t catch a break. Help me take-on Hollywood on my terms!
With a combined total of 7000+ Facebook & Twitter Friends, a $1.25 tip from 4000 Friends would be all I need to produce “Selene’s Hollywood Confidential”, that’s cheaper than one cocktail…or Beer Bust!

“SELENE LUNA in BORN TO BE ALIVE!” review by Jackie Beat
This is a review of Selene Luna’s one woman show, “Born To Be Alive”, now playing Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at The LA Gay & Lesbian Center.
FULL DISCLOSURE: Selene is one of my best friends and I am secretly in love with her.
If you are planning on celebrating Memorial Day by seeing “Sex and the City 2″ I would like you to please rethink your plans. I saw it yesterday at The Grove and — SPOILER ALERT! — the 2 in the title is just too nail-on-the-head. You know, Number Two — like poop? Yes, this movie is shit.
If you are thinking about seeing the very hunky Jake Jizz-in-hole in “The Prince of Persia”, don’t bother. Though I have not seen it, this is obviously nothing more than a live-action gay remake of Disney’s “Aladdin”. Skip it.
Marmaduke? More like Make Ya’ Puke! No talking dogs, please. And speaking of talking dogs, did I mention you should skip “Sex and the City 2″?
Okay, so now it’s time to tell you what you SHOULD do this weekend… Go see a GREAT live show! BORN TO BE ALIVE is a delightful emotional rollercoaster that will make you laugh, make you cry and make you leave the theater satisfied that you are perfect just the way you are! NO ONE LEAVES “SEX AND THE CITY” FEELING GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES, TRUST ME!
Former burlesque queen and current comic dynamo, Selene Luna, takes us on a tumultuous trip through her hilarious and heartbreaking life — from Tijuana to West Hollywood. The entire show takes place “back stage” as Ms. Luna dishes the dirt and gives us a gritty but glamorous glimpse of the back of the Hollywood sign while preparing to go on stage. The wigs and costumes are stunning, but what really leaves one breathless is Selene’s brutal honesty.
This show has EVERYTHING I look for in an evening of entertainment: Laughter, tears, sequins, disco music and wigs a plenty! Wigs make everything better. Okay, except Jello.
So run, don’t walk, to see BORN TO BE ALIVE! You will thank me.

Help Me Help Homeless Kids!
I am straight, but pretty gay-acting (as if you didn’t already know!). I have always felt a special connection with the gay community because we are bonded by our social challenges.
Not being accepted by their own families is a primary social challenge for young lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender (LGBT) kids. I was fortunate to have been raised by very loving, open-minded queer-friendly parents. Growing up, many of my gay friends would find solace and nurturing from my parents, but sadly, an overwhelming number of LGBT youth don’t even have friends to turn to. Many times, they are ostracized and kicked-out of their homes by their own parents, after they come out of the closet. As a result, these kids are left to fend for themselves on the streets compromising their health, education, safety, and future.
I have always been accepted and embraced by the gay community and now it’s my turn to give back by donating proceeds of my new show opening Memorial Day Weekend:

Los Angeles, CA, Tuesday, April 27, 2010– Selene Luna’s story is unlike anything being presented on stage today. The diminutive actress/writer/burlesque artist/stand-up comic/fashion model/activist has faced more obstacles than most as a woman born a little person who emigrated from Mexico to the U.S. with her family when she was just three years old. Confronting and overcoming multiple levels of discrimination, the Logo Award nominee has become one of the hottest members of Hollywood’s “eccentric artist community” and has crossed over into mainstream film, television, theatre and the print fashion world.
Luna is returning to the stage with a brand-new, one-person play, Born to Be Alive, which she has written especially for the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Davidson/Valentini Theatre. The show premieres on May 28, beginning a month-long run. Aspects of Luna’s improbable odyssey have been explored in her previous plays, but Born to Be Alive is different.
“I’ve evolved so much as a writer and performer,” Luna explains, “and I’ve also become much more willing to be open and vulnerable. This will be my most honest show ever, as well as my happiest and funniest.”
It’s also the first time she’s had the support of a director (Derick LaSalla) and production team. The luxury of focusing exclusively on the creative elements of the show gives Luna the ability to go places she’s never touched before.
A veteran of more than 15 years on stage, Luna first became well known performing in burlesque. While working as a magician’s assistant, she befriended the women in The Velvet Hammer Burlesque, a groundbreaking troupe that single-handedly revived the neglected art form in the early 1990s. One day their creative director asked Luna to join them on stage.
“I thought, ‘What, are you crazy?’ ” says Luna. “But fairly quickly I decided I was up for a challenge! I wound up touring with them for years.” At the time, she was the only little person in the business; she became a sensation, touring the U.S., Europe and Canada.
After a decade on the road, “I made a public announcement that I was hanging up my pasties,” Selene laughs. “But, like Barbra Streisand, I’ll come back for the right price!”
While with The Velvet Hammer, Luna met Margaret Cho, now one of her best friends, who later invited her to be part of Cho’s 2007 burlesque review, The Sensuous Woman, and to join the cast of VH1’s The Cho Show. Luna has amassed an impressive list of stage, film and television credits—everything from music videos for Madonna to the feature film My Bloody Valentine 3D.

“YOU WANT TO GET MAD?”
I copied this post from Lady Bunny’s FaceBook, “YOU WANT TO GET MAD?” (Author unknown). It struck such a cord I had to repost it. (thanks for sharing Lady Bunny).
We had eight years of
Bush and Cheney, but now you get mad!
You didn’t get mad when
the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a
President. You didn’t get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy. You didn’t get mad when a covert CIA operative got ousted.
You didn’t get mad when
the Patriot Act got passed..
You didn’t get mad when
we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.
You didn’t get mad when
we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war.
You didn’t get mad when
over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq.
You didn’t get mad when
you found out we were torturing people.
You didn’t get mad when
the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.
You didn’t get mad when
we didn’t catch Bin Laden.
You didn’t get mad when
you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.
You didn’t get mad when
we let a major US city drown.
You didn’t get mad when
we gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich.
You didn’t get mad
when, using reconciliation; a trillion dollars of our tax dollars were redirected to insurance companies for Medicare Advantage which cost over 20 percent more for basically the same services that Medicare provides.
You didn’t get mad when
the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark, and our debt hit the thirteen trillion dollar mark.
You finally got mad
when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all okay with you, but helping other Americans… oh hell no.
AND NOW YOU’RE MAD!

Anti-gay = 100% Closeted QUEEN!
I’ve not much to say here because anyone with half a brain knows that anti-gay rights politician-types always prove to be closeted gays; this repeatedly proves itself.
Not only did fiercely anti-gay rights Republican Sen. Roy Ashburn get busted driving drunk in a State issued vehicle (bitch, that’s my tax dollar!), but he was leaving a GAY NIGHTCLUB with a man! Oh yes, and of course, this prick is married with four children.
Thank you Huffington Post! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/04/roy-ashburn-arrested-anti_n_485419.html
In a twisted sort of way, perhaps the Republican Party is thee Gay Party, they’re just not telling us.
SEN. ROY ASHBURN’S ANTI-GAY VOTING RECORD: In March 2009, Sen. Ashburn voted against a Senate resolution declaring Proposition 8 unconstitutional. Ashburn voted three times to oppose the creation of Harvey Milk Day. In September he voted against California recognizing out of state same-sex marriages. In 2008 he voted to oppose an expansion of the state’s insurance laws to include sexual orientation as a protected class.
